The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is a book about a twelve-year-old boy named Percy Jackson who has dyslexia and ADHD. He lives in New York City with his mom and his stepdad. When Percy finds out that his father, who was supposedly lost at sea, is actually Poseidon, the god of the sea, he discovers that he is a demigod. Almost immediately, Percy goes to Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven and training ground for young demigods. Soon after his arrival, he is told that Zeus’s lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Percy proves his innocence by going on a quest with his two friends, Grover and Annabeth to find the lightning bolt and return it to Mount Olympus, where the gods live. The future books will have changes in relationships because Grover, Luke, and Annabeth will change their relationship with Percy, Zeus and Hades will begin to wage war against Ares, one of their fellow gods, and Percy will grow closer to Poseidon.
